🏆 WEEK 8 RECAP — MOVING DAY LIVED UP TO THE NAME

MOVING DAY — and apparently everybody got the memo.

Week 8 brought another shake-up at the top of the leaderboard, some of the biggest rounds we've seen all season, and just enough questionable golf decisions to remind everyone that this is still the EGI.

With one outing remaining, the race for the jacket is officially wide open.

👑 MARTIN TAKES OVER THE TOP SPOT

Mike Martin has surged into 1st place after putting together a 38-point round with 23 Actual Points, moving him to 273 points on the season.

Apparently, Mike used AI during the round to determine which clubs to use on each hole? Is that legal? We're going to need the EGI Rules Committee to investigate this before Eagle Crest.

Although I'm not sure how much the AI actually helped, considering it took Mike 3 holes before he realized he left his wedges behind.

How does that even happen?! 😂

Fortunately, Dan found the clubs — and apparently Mike found his golf game too.

🚂 THE McCLAIN COMEBACK TOUR CONTINUES

Don't look now, but McClain is coming.

Another monster week: 39 Total Points with 22 Actual, vaulting him all the way into 3rd place at 269.

He's now just FOUR POINTS behind the leader.

What looked like a comeback story a few weeks ago has officially turned into a legitimate run at the EGI Jacket.

Meanwhile, longtime leader Kevin Bachert finally showed a little vulnerability. Bachert finished with 31 Total / 17 Actual — certainly not a disaster, but unfortunately for Kevin, everyone around him decided this was the week to start playing like Tour pros.

Bachert drops to 2nd at 271, just two points behind Martin.

And now we have to ask...

Was it the new driver? 👀

🔥 VITT MAKES HIS MOVE

Another guy who apparently decided he'd like to be measured for a jacket is Nick Vitt.

Vitt fired one of the rounds of the year:

25 ACTUAL — 40 TOTAL.

That launches him into 4th place at 267, only six points off the lead.

Sitting right behind him is Doyle at 266, just one point behind Vitt and seven behind Martin.

So your current Top 5 heading into the Final Showdown:

Martin 273 — Bachert 271 — McClain 269 — Vitt 267 — Doyle 266.

That's only SEVEN POINTS separating 1st through 5th.

Yeah... Eagle Crest should be interesting.

👀 DON'T COUNT THESE GUYS OUT EITHER

Sitting just outside the Top 5 is Leake at 263, only 10 points off the lead. That's not an impossible number to make up in one round — especially if Eagle Crest decides to create a little Final Showdown chaos.

Clauson — Isaacson — defending champion Pie.

They're 11 points back, so they'll need some help from the leaders — but we've seen enough crazy swings this season to know they're not dead yet.

Clauson, Ike and Pie all posted 20 Actual Points this week.

If there's anybody who knows how to hang around and make things interesting at the end, it's him.

💪 K-MART BOUNCES BACK

Last week, Keith Martin had one of those rounds where you seriously consider taking up fishing.

This week?

23 ACTUAL — 40 TOTAL.

That's how you bounce back.

Keith tied Vitt for the High Total of the Week, and both guys earn a trip to the prize pool.

Way to rebound, K-Mart!

Mike Stone also came roaring back after struggling in his makeup round, firing 24 Actual / 37 Total.

Stone now sits at 259, tied with Keelan and Mojica for the final money positions heading into the finale.

So while everyone is watching the Jacket race, there's going to be an absolute street fight happening around that Top 12 cutoff too.
